Making its debut on the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) in 1987, Mega Man is arguably one of the most renowned and recognizable franchises in the video game medium. Well known for it’s challenging gameplay, level design, music, and artwork, Capcom’s 2D side scrolling series has been emulated by countless developers for decades. Though popular and well regarded, Mega Man has fallen by the wayside due to Capcom’s mishandling of the property. In a possible attempt to rectify this negligence and prepare for a possible resurgence for the series, Capcom has released the Mega Man Legacy Collection.
Featuring faithful reproductions of the series’ origins with the original six Mega Man games and various challenge modes, Mega Man Legacy Collection is billed as a celebration of the 8-bit history of Capcom’s iconic robotic mascot. Keeping that in mind, We Are Error’s Christopher Herman and Jon Romo take a “rock” hard look at the collection to see if the adventures of the Blue Bomber have managed to endure 30 years later.
